Mid-career hire as Executive Officer (2020)

Toshiaki Yui

I heard something like this

  • ・What is your background?

  • ・ What was the decisive factor in joining the company?

  • ・ What are your future goals?

Recruit who jumped in with the idea of “I want to run the business with my own hands”

Ever since I was a university student, I had a strong desire to "start my own business someday", and when I was looking for a job, I was looking at companies where I could have experience close to management. Recruit was particularly impressive. I had the opportunity to talk directly with a very attractive executive, and I intuitively thought, "Because there are such people in the company, various services are being created." That was the decisive factor in choosing Recruit.

After joining the company, after gaining experience in sales and development, I was assigned to a group that promotes cross-business projects. Being able to move billions of dollars and being surrounded by great people was very inspiring. However, my desire to "run one business myself" became stronger, and I decided to work on sales promotion and business support services for restaurants using IT in the restaurant-related business department. There, as an assistant to the business manager on the product side, I did everything to advance the business, such as coordinating with the sales team based on action monitoring, considering measures while discussing with the web director, and managing costs and resources. Because I was involved in a large-scale service that registered tens of thousands of stores nationwide, the team was a large organization with hundreds of people just for sales, and it was an environment where I could make a big impact on the world and industry. On the other hand, it takes a little time to do something new, and I felt a strong desire to start a new business with a sense of speed in a more compact organization.

At that time, it was decided to transfer to a new business in the travel field. I was assigned to the team half a year after the release of the new service, and the results were not what I expected. Although the industry situation and user needs are different between restaurants and travel, the flow of “analyzing the cause, identifying the problem, thinking about and implementing the solution” is the same. While cooperating with the team, I continued to turn the PDCA cycle by fumbling around.

I want to spread correct knowledge to many people

As I experienced multiple product managers, my desire to take on new challenges gradually grew stronger. I also felt that I was “too blessed” to have an environment with excellent human resources, abundant resources, and a wealth of knowledge. At that time, there were more opportunities to be consulted by entrepreneurs in various industries and phases. Until then, I had thought that I wanted to start my own business, but I began to think that I could make the world a better place by using my knowledge in a venture company. Among them, I met GA technologies Co., Ltd..

I was also interested in education and medical care, but when I thought about what field I could use my experience in and get results quickly, I thought it would be real estate. In modern Japan, where the “20 million yen problem after retirement” is being called out, it is important for each and every one of us to think about our ideal life and prepare for the future. As a means of asset building, Real estate investment is often misunderstood, and there are still many areas that can be digitized. I thought that spreading correct knowledge to many people is one of the means to improve Japanese society.

I felt that GA technologies Co., Ltd. had a strong will to “change the industry,” and that they had a structural advantage in their one-stop business model. Improving the customer experience using technology is also an area where my experience can be put to good use. For these reasons, I felt the significance of participating and decided to join the company.

Speedily improve product quality and support decision-making

I want to create a world where people who want to Real estate investment can properly find the means of Real estate investment and make decisions smoothly. The real estate industry is an area where information asymmetry is high and decision-making is difficult. Also, there are many people who have never met Real estate investment in the first place. I want to improve this with the power of IT. In today's world where customers can gather information and make decisions on their own through the Internet, rather than just listening to stories from friends and acquaintances, digital technology should be able to improve Real estate investment experience.

What I place particular emphasis on is "how quickly we can improve the quality of our products." This is because the faster the service is completed, the more people it can help. In Real estate investment, there is a big difference between when you need a return on investment and when you should start investing, and opportunity losses are likely to occur. As you approach retirement age, you may feel that retirement benefits and pensions alone are not enough for your retirement, and you may regret that you had spent 20 to 30 years prior to building your assets and preparing for retirement.

When I was in college, I worked as a cram school lecturer and interacted with students every day. That's why I want to reduce as much as possible the number of people who say, "I didn't get rewarded because I didn't come across information" or "I didn't get rewarded because I didn't have the right environment." I want to create a society where people who work hard are rewarded. When I was a cram school teacher, I could only support dozens of people in my class, but now I believe that I can help more people with the power of IT and services.

There are an infinite number of things that we have to do. So I think it's important to prioritize. What processes, products, and customer experiences are necessary for customers to find the right information and make decisions smoothly, and what points need to be improved? I would like to continue to take on challenges as an organization while carefully assessing what we should do now.
